Anup Dhir is a senior cosmetic surgeon at New Delhi’s Apollo hospital and spoke to The India Times concerning this hot new procedure. He said that surgeons were once afraid to use fat grafting. He explained, “A decade ago surgeons were hesitant to perform this procedure as calcification after fat transplantation could not be differentiated from those caused by cancer.” Calcification is the process where calcium salts build up in soft tissue making it hard. He goes on to explain that the MRI has allowed these concerns to be cleared up.
